NBA Cares came out on Saturday, December 13, to run a skills clinic for our basketball youth. New York basketball legend and former NBA player Felipe Lopez hosted, training our coaches on the various drills. We had over 100 kids from our 5 partner elementary schools and one middle school, but Felipe captured their attention and swiftly led them through all the skills training. See the photos below for a glimpse into our action packed Saturday, and check out more on our Facebook page. Thank you to the Chinatown YMCA, NBA Cares and Felipe Lopez for hosting, and thanks to all our basketball coaches for helping out–especially bringing our youth to/from their respective schools. Special thanks to our photographer, Phillip Nondorf, for capturing our kids and Felipe. Our youth had a great time meeting and talking to a former basketball star, who is also a great role model for spending time mentoring and volunteering in the community. Whether or not our kids become pro basketball players in the future, we hope that they give back like Felipe does when they grow up!
