In preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, we asked our middle school mentoring pairs to think about gratitude and what they’re thankful for this holiday season. We started off with a worksheet to get them warmed up,including questions like:
- Describe a special favor you received and how it helped and touched you
- Describe a special gift or talent you have, how you use it and why you are grateful for it
- What are some ways you can show that you are thankful?
We then broke them up into teams to make Thankful Trees: Each person had to add 2-3 things they were thankful for to their group’s tree. They got creative–we saw animal shaped leaves, round leaves and trees full of turkeys. Each team then presented their group’s Thankful Trees.
