Dizzy bat, relays and tug of war aren’t just for the kids! This past Sunday, on July 12th, the Apex Associate Board hosted the inaugural Apex Field Day for our volunteers. We mixed our volunteers across programs–so mentors got to bond with teammates who were tutors and basketball coaches–and enjoyed a day of friendly competition out in Central Park, just north of Sheep’s Meadow. Our volunteers cheered each other on, including other teams, and had a blast running up and down the field with balloons between their legs (balloon waddle), tossing water balloons, partaking in the oreo face eating contest (no hands!), teaming up for the wheelbarrow race and  running a flip cup relay (cups filled with water of course!). The blue team narrowly came in first, taking home the first Apex Field Day medals! Special thanks to Associate Board member Chris Chao for taking photos and Yinan Zhao for heading up the planning committee! Thanks to our volunteers for coming out, and don’t forget to join us again next year!
