Apex for Youth empowers underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC to unlock their potential and a world of possibility. Through programming focusing on health and well-being, education, and community engagement, Apex for Youth creates transformative social connections and celebrates cultural identity to build the confidence and self-efficacy of future generations.

Apex serves approximately 2,000 students annually from Kindergarten through their post-secondary years. We provide children and young adults with opportunities to develop strong relationships with adults who volunteer as consistent and caring mentors and role models.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

We believe in the power of visual storytelling to engage audiences, build brand loyalty, and drive results. We are seeking a talented and passionate Content Producer to lead our visual content efforts across all platforms, foster a culture of content creation throughout the organization, and ensure consistent brand representation. We are looking for a rising star to help establish Apex for Youth as a thought leader and expert in the AAPI space through the creation and dissemination of high-quality editorial content by highlighting the transformative relationships in our community.

As the Content Producer, you’ll be the driving force behind our visual content strategy, production, and brand management. You’ll collaborate across departments to empower content creation and ensure that our visual storytelling is consistent, engaging, effective, and reflective of our brand identity. Your expertise in video, photography, motion design, and graphic design will be essential in creating a cohesive and impactful visual presence for our brand.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Strategy & Planning (35%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy aligned with overall marketing and communications goals.
  • In collaboration with Marketing and Communications Operations and Project Manager, manage content calendars, ensuring a consistent flow of fresh and engaging content.
  • In collaboration with Senior Manager of Growth and Data, track and analyze content performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize future strategies; and define target audiences, key messages, and distribution channels for each content piece.

Content Production & Execution (50%)

  • Lead the production of our content from video to photo to graphics (flat and motion) and execute at a high standard
  • Oversee the distribution of content across various platforms, including social media, website, email, and paid advertising.
  • Manage and maintain all video, photography, and design equipment, ensuring proper care, maintenance, and inventory.

Brand Management & Content Culture (15%)

  • Ensure that all visual content aligns with and strengthens the brand identity, voice, and messaging in collaboration with the Content Creation and Production Coordinator.
  • Maintain and evolve brand guidelines for visual content creation.
  • Champion the importance of visual storytelling and collaborate with other teams to ensure brand consistency across all visual touchpoints.
  • Empower and equip employees across departments to create their own content (e.g., through training, providing resources).
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing around content creation best practices, including holding workshops for internal staff when needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Entrepreneurial spirit: A passion for creating impact, with a proven ability to think outside the box, take initiative, and overcome challenges.
  • Proven Experience: 3-5 years of experience in content creation and production, with a strong focus on video, photography, and graphic design.
  • Portfolio: A stellar portfolio showcasing your expertise in video production, photography, graphic design, visual storytelling, and brand management.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software and equipment, including:
    • Video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
    • Motion graphics and animation software (e.g., Adobe After Effects)
    • Photography editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop)
    • Graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign)
    • Cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and other production tools
    • WordPress / website experience to help with creative oversight
  • Creative Vision: A keen eye for aesthetics and the ability to translate ideas into visually compelling content that aligns with the brand.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to inspire, motivate, and collaborate effectively with individuals across various departments.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, work with limited budgets and resources and adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in video, photography, motion design, and graphic design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field preferred. Additional certifications or training in content marketing or digital media are a plus.

 

Salary range: The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000, depending on experience.

 

Overview of Benefits

Paid time off: In the first year of employment, employees are eligible for approximately a combined 40 days of vacation, holiday, personal, and sick leave (10 vacation days, 12 paid holidays, org-wide closures for one week over the winter holidays and one week during the Fourth of July, 5 sick days per year, 3 personal days a year). Additional vacation days accrue according to years worked in the organization.

Medical and other benefits: Employees are eligible to participate in a range of medical, dental and vision insurance plans with Apex covering the majority of the cost for employees; 401K plan with employer matching; flexible spending account; commuter benefits; paid parental leave; and professional development stipend. 

Hybrid workplace: Apex provides for a flexible remote work schedule on specific days of the week and requires employees to be on-site for other days of the week, and for special events and programs.
