At Apex for Youth, we know mental health is deeply personal—and deeply impacted by our culture, family dynamics, and daily lived experiences. Our Mental Health Services are built specifically for Asian American youth navigating challenges around identity, stress, trauma, and belonging.
All youth in Apex programs—from elementary to high school—have free access to our mental health services. We provide accessible, affirming mental health care that helps youth process difficult emotions, build coping strategies, and strengthen the relationships that shape their world.

Our staff have vast knowledge and experience as educators, youth workers, and trained mental health professionals.
From their own lived experiences, our staff understand the cultural nuances that our Asian American youth experience every day. This enables us to provide a deep level of care that is tailored to our youth through one-of-a-kind programming.
Youth can meet with a trained therapist in a format that fits them best:
Therapists integrate techniques from DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to Internal Family Systems and Mindfulness practices.
Peer Support Groups, grouped by age and affinity, which encourage self-expression, community building, and emotional regulation through consistent meetings in specially designed safe spaces. These are designed for youth that seek to grow their social skills and expand their social lives.
Crisis Management for youth participants encountering crises that threaten their immediate safety. Apex’s mental health team supports the youth and their family by providing crisis counseling, connecting them to needed resources, and advocating for their rights in the process of stabilizing the crisis.
Family Nights, in collaboration with the Elementary Enrichment and Athletics teams, create a space for our caregivers and youth to come together and connect deeply as they explore the healing process of intergenerational traumas as a unit as well as learn about relevant topics in their children’s’ lives.
Community Events that promote self-expression, self-care, and community building across all age groups through art exhibitions, mental health panels, and events that uplift youth experiences with their own mental health journeys like our annual Winter Soulstice.
“The (Mental Health) services you have offered to my son have greatly changed the way he used to act. With the services’ help, his behavior and attitude changed greatly for the better. It also helped mem learn how to better handle certain situations involving kids similar to my son, and I think those are very useful skills. Thank you so much.”
