1. Why do you volunteer with Apex?
I volunteer with Apex for numerous reasons. First and foremost, I support Apex’s mission and the work that they do. Mentoring is tremendously valuable and impactful. I enjoy working with kids and teaching the game of basketball. I am a big fan of PS1 and Principal Amy Hom. The work that they do for the community, led by Principal Hom, is immeasurable. Just being able to contribute one small piece of that work is a pleasure and a privilege.  It’s a wonderful experience to try to be a positive influence in these kids’ lives and the potential of affecting just one of them, in the slimmest of ways, is a special opportunity. I volunteer for Apex because I get back much more than I give.

2. Who was one of the most influential adults in your life when you were growing up?
My parents were the most influential adults in my life when I was growing up.  From my parents, I learned very important values, including hard work, sacrifice, and commitment. They taught me the core family values that guide me today.

3. What has been one of your favorite Apex memories?
The Apex holiday party is always a very special party. I enjoy seeing all the kids enjoying the spirit of the holidays, opening presents, and just having fun.  The PS1 graduation dinner where the kids do group ballroom dance is a blast as well.

4. The craziest thing I’ve seen in New York is…
I have lived in NYC all of my life, I am born and bred, and a proud product of the NYC public education system. I have seen it all – when it comes to crazy. The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy was probably the craziest thing I have ever seen.

5. My favorite meal is…
Peter Luger’s steak with a side of bacon. (Don’t tell the kids because that’s not exactly a healthy meal.)
