I feel like Apex has already given me so much — how can I ask them for more? But I think [I’m] continuing to take advantage of the different opportunities. Once I really got involved in Apex, I didn’t see it as giving back to the community; I saw it as another opportunity. Apex has just given me so many opportunities, and I’m really grateful to be involved in the community.”
— VICKI,
Apex Alum
While I was privileged to grow up with strong family support and access to quality education, the youths Apex serves are not all as fortunate. Bringing my mentee to a Knicks game at Barclays Center that was sponsored by Apex for Youth was my favorite memories. The kids also got to do a meet-and-greet with Jeremy Lin. My HSMP mentee at the time played both club basketball and on her highschool team so it was a core memory for both us.”
— MAGGIE,
HS Mentoring & Associate Board
This is my third year with Apex for Youth! I’m a mentor for the National Virtual Program and have been so lucky to be surrounded by the best mentees and mentors from all around the country. When the program first started, I reached out to my high school English teacher, Ms. Lim, to help recruit mentees from my hometown. I genuinely am so grateful that I’m able to give back to my community through Apex.”
