How Apex’s Elementary Explorers Program is Shaping Asian American Youth

Childhood is a time of boundless potential, where creativity, exploration, and connection shape the foundations of confidence and self-identity. Apex for Youth’s Elementary Enrichment Programs aim to harness that potential, building confidence and fostering a sense of belonging among Asian American youth from Kindergarten to 5th grade. By creating a supportive community of peers and trusted adults, these programs help young minds navigate a critical developmental stage while discovering new interests and deepening ties to their culture and community.

Ho Jae Kim, an accomplished artist and founder of Civil Art, uses his creative talents to celebrate the beauty and complexity of life while advocating for meaningful causes. Through his recent Night Market exhibition, Ho Jae brought more than 60 creative participants together and raised funds to support Apex for Youth. His commitment to the API community and passion for fostering inclusivity and belonging are evident in both his art and his advocacy.

For Sovena Ngeth, running isn’t just about logging miles and getting to the finish line, it’s about showing her family what she is capable of to help them unlock their own potential. Her mother and grandmother immigrated to the United States in 1994 after trying to rebuild their life in Cambodia, having endured the genocide under the Khmer Rouge from 1975-1979.
