Apex for Youth empowers underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC to unlock their potential and a world of possibility. Through programming focusing on health and well-being, education, and community engagement, Apex for Youth creates transformative social connections and celebrates cultural identity to build the confidence and self-efficacy of future generations.
Apex serves approximately 2,500 students annually from Kindergarten through their post-secondary years. We provide children and young adults with opportunities to develop strong relationships with adults who volunteer as consistent and caring mentors and role models.
POSITION SUMMARY
Our Mental Health Services department addresses the emotional and mental health needs of Apex youth from kindergarten to college age through individual and group therapy, peer supportive workshops and events, and supports families and the community at large through community engagement and education. The primary mission of the Mental Health Services at Apex is to promote the mental well-being of Asian American and immigrant youth through culturally responsive counseling and education. Our approach centers on consistent relationships and embraces the unique experiences of immigrant and Asian American communities.
The per diem licensed clinician (LMSW, LCSW, LCAT, LMHC, etc.) will be an addition to our MHS team, providing support in the delivery of high-quality therapeutic services, including individual and group therapy services primarily in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and Flushing, Queens. Depending on scheduling, the per diem may also have the opportunity to co-facilitate therapeutic groups and support events/workshops in our Manhattan office. Permit holders can receive supervision from a member of the MHS team (LCSW and LCAT) for licensure requirements. This role will report to the Associate Director of Mental Health Service.
The commitment for the per diem clinician is 6-8 hours/week at $50/hr.
