POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate and Foundation Relations Associate Director is responsible for managing Apex for Youth’s philanthropic corporate partnerships and foundation relations through all stages of the philanthropic life cycle. The Associate Director will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 70-100 corporate and foundation partners, raising $1 million to $3 million annually to support the organization’s goal to raise $8M each year.

"(《世界人权宣言》) Associate Director will be the primary point of contact for philanthropic partnerships with corporations and foundations. In partnership with the Volunteer Manager, the Corporate and Foundation Relations Associate Director will coordinate solicitations and engagements, which may include site visits, individual volunteer opportunities, corporate volunteer events, corporate speaking engagements for Apex team members, grant submissions, and reporting.

The Corporate and Foundation Relations Associate Director reports to the Director of Development and works closely with the Development and Program teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Corporate and Foundation Relations (80%)
      • Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward 70-100 corporate partners, corporate foundations, and other institutional foundations to achieve fundraising goals for a portfolio of $1 million to $3 million in funding annually.
      • Support the implementation of Apex’s strategic plan by growing corporate and foundation partnerships in the next five years as part of a fundraising campaign.
      • Create 20-30 solicitation proposals annually and qualify 5-10 new partners annually.
      • Provide reports and updates for all current funders in the Associate Director’s portfolio..
      • Work with Marketing to create informational materials, pitch decks, reports, and communications highlighting corporate and foundation partnerships.

      • Corporate Relations:
        • Cultivate and manage a portfolio of 60-70 corporate partners.
        • Partner with the Development Team, the Board of Directors, Cornerstone Council, and the Associate Board to send sponsorship requests to corporate prospects for special events such as the annual gala.
        • Serve as the primary liaison for corporate inquiries and communications as it relates to philanthropy with a focus on gifts of $25,000 or more.
        • Respond to inquiries from corporate prospects. For qualified prospects, create solicitation strategies that may include in-person or virtual meetings, volunteer opportunities, speaking engagements, solicitations/proposals, pitch decks, and reports.
        • Partner with the Program teams and Volunteer Manager to build mission-driven, sustaining relationships with corporate partners, which may include thought partnership, program visits, and volunteer opportunities.
 
  • Institutional Foundation Relations:
      • Cultivate and manage a growing portfolio of 2-5 private institutional foundation relationships.
      • Work closely with the Development team and Grants Manager to research, qualify, and solicit new institutional foundations.
 
  • Development Team & Other (20%)
    • Provide strategy and leadership for improving the organization’s partnership with corporations and institutional foundations. 
    • Support the Development Team with overall fundraising efforts, which include events such as the annual Gala, Taste of Asia, etc.
    • Perform other duties as required.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS preferred
  • 5-7 years of fundraising experience in a closely relevant corporate or philanthropic organization required
  • Strong writing, editing, research, presentation and communication skills required
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with high attention to detail required
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and successfully managing concurrent projects required
  • A genuine passion for and commitment to Apex’s mission; a strong storyteller with ability to creatively and effectively share organization’s work with stakeholders using a variety of media required
  • Demonstrated success in soliciting and stewarding corporate and institutional funders, or comparable experience preferred
  • Experience building and reporting on program budgets in the context of grants preferred
  • Ability to be proactive, not reactive, and to think strategically across multiple, concurrent projects preferred
  • Knowledge of the NY nonprofit, philanthropic, and Asian American community as well as the broader national network preferred
  • Experience with and understanding of CRM systems such as Salesforce preferred
 

Salary range: The salary range for this position is $85,000-100,000 depending on experience.

Paid time off: In the first year of employment, employees are eligible for approximately a combined 40 days of vacation, holiday, personal, and sick leave (10 vacation days, 12 paid holidays, org-wide closures for one week over the winter holidays and one week during the Fourth of July, 5 sick days per year, 3 personal days a year). Additional vacation days accrue according to years worked in the organization.
