1. Why do you volunteer with Apex?
There are so many reasons! Top of mind, I think of how important Apex is for the community in New York. Our youth are our future, so mentoring, education and the whole gamut of programs Apex offers are so important to keep the progress going. Not to mention, the kids are the greatest—I’ve learned so much from them.

2. Who was one of the most influential adults in your life when you were growing up? My Grandmother, a pioneer who brought my Dad and Uncle over from Hong Kong back when they were kids. She is the one who taught me how important it is to give back to the community, just as others have helped our family in the past.

3. What has been one of your favorite Apex memories? I sat in on a volunteer appreciation dinner and there was this incredible moment where the moderator asked the mentees graduating high school to raise their hands if they were the first in their families to attend college. The front half of the room lit up with so many waving arms and it was incredibly moving.

4. The craziest thing I’ve seen in New York is…
I’m not sure if anything in New York can be considered crazy!

5. My favorite meal is… 41 Grados in Barcelona, a spin-off of the infamous El Bulli and an incredible sensory experience.
