Apex for Youth empowers underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC to unlock their potential and a world of possibility. Through programming focusing on health and well-being, education, and community engagement, Apex for Youth creates transformative social connections and celebrates cultural identity to build the confidence and self-efficacy of future generations.

Apex serves approximately 2,000 students annually from Kindergarten through their post-secondary years. We provide children and young adults with opportunities to develop strong relationships with adults who volunteer as consistent and caring mentors and role models.


Apex’s College and Career Success Department works to prepare our youth to be college and career ready and meet the needs of our community through a lens of equity and culturally responsive support and advisement, actively working to address educational and professional barriers faced by Asian American youth from low income backgrounds. Our programs emphasize exploration and curiosity, and aims to expand youths’ scope when thinking about their personal, academic, and post-secondary pathways. These programs are run by staff with support from volunteers.

The Alumni Program Manager will report to the Associate Director of College and Career Success and possess a strong background in working with low-income, first generation youth, have experience in college success and/or career support, and have excellent program development and management skills. 


  • Manage and oversee all aspects of Alumni programs and events, curriculum development, opportunities, and workshop implementation that support college and career readiness and community building 
  • Maintain communication with Apex for Youth college student and young professionals community, including check-ins to support with college transition and success, cases of youth seeking alternative post-secondary options, financial aid renewal, and career planning for up to 80 students 
  • Expand alumni-supporting mentoring programs, including the First Year Alumni Mentoring Program and the Career Mentoring Program
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and management  for all Alumni Program volunteers for events and programs
  • Collaborate with with members of the College and Career Success team to implement teamwide events and opportunities
  • Oversee collection and analysis of program data with support of Data Analyst
  • Manage student evaluation data with support from Data Analyst, suggesting improvements and implementing changes to programs based on evaluations and feedback
  • Liaise with Development department for fundraising needs, including collaborating with corporate partners
  • Perform other duties as required


  • BA or BS required
  • 2+ years experience working with college students in an educational or career development setting preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to Apex for Youth’s mission, vision, and core values
  • 3-4 years of experience managing projects and/or programs for youth and families; ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Experience developing engaging lesson plans and group facilitation in virtual and in-person group settings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to create genuine relationships
  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive and bright disposition with “can do” attitude
  • Proactive nature and self starter, ability to problem-solve autonomously
  • Experience working with low-income and first-generation students a plus
  • Candidates are expected to be able to commute to the Apex office in Manhattan at least 1-2 days a week
  • Ability to work Saturdays as needed, and take Sunday and Monday as the weekend


Salary range: The salary range for this position is $59,500 – $66,000, depending on experience.


Overview of Benefits

Paid time off: In the first year of employment, employees are eligible for approximately a combined 40 days of vacation, holiday, personal, and sick leave (10 vacation days, 12 paid holidays, org-wide closures for one week over the winter holidays and one week during the Fourth of July, 5 sick days per year, 3 personal days a year). Additional vacation days accrue according to years worked in the organization.
